BC RF/103/11/34: Letter asking EJR to put some questions to Lucy Aikin's family about [her memoirs], 19 February [1865]
Description
Letter asking EJR to put some questions to Lucy Aikin's family about [her memoirs]. MC wonders 'why are not Channing's answers published?' and feels there are too few letters to her friends and family. She praises Miss Aikin's style, compared to 'the grievous slang called English in which people have written and spoken of late years', and deplores Macaulay's review of her "Addison". Remembering, and quoting part of, a poem called "the balloon", she expresses regret that Miss Aikin 'could not abide me'.
